“On their return the apostles told Jesus all they had done.He took them with him and withdrew privately to a city called Bethsaida. When the crowds found out about it, they followed him;and he welcomed them, and spoke to them about the kingdom of God,and healed those who needed to be cured.
The day was drawing to a close, and the twelve came to him and said,’Send the crowd away,so that they may go into the surrounding villages and countryside,to lodge and get provisions;for we are here in a deserted place.’But he said to them, ‘You give them something to eat.’They said,’we have no more than five loaves and two fish-unless we are to go and buy for all these people.’For there were about five thousand men.And he said to his disciples,’Make them sit down in groups of about fifty each.’They did so and made them all sit down. And taking the five loaves and the two fish, he looked up to heaven, and blessed and broke them, and gave them to the disciples to set before the crowd. And all ate and were filled. What was left over was gathered up, twelve baskets of broken pieces.” Luke 9:10-17
For a better world we need to be concerned of the people who are with and around us.In today’s world no body is asking for a great help but a little sympathy and acceptance because the world is full of technological gadgets and so it is devoid of the inner human feelings.
In the above passage from the Holy Bible we find Jesus taking his disciples privately to a city called Bethsaida. When the crowds found out the place where Jesus and his disciples were they followed him out of their love for his message or sermons. Here again we find him welcoming the people before speaking to them about the kingdom of God which clearly speaks of his immense love for charity. As he himself is charity till the end at Golgotha.
He healed those who needed to be cured, this is very significant for repentance. Jesus knew that to receive the food of the soul one needs to be cured of one’s physical illnesses. Only a sound body, mind and soul is capable of searching the true way to paradise.A real cleansing of the soul is possible only when we are physically fit and fine. (Except few victimised soul)
We can’t even dream of being like Jesus but we can do great things in his name.We all can carry on with the work of Charity that was started by our master by continuing it not only at home but even in those places where we visit frequently for our works and other purposes.
The day was drawing to a close, and the twelve came to him and said,’Send the crowd away……
The disciples too were charitable so they wanted the crowd to go back to their homes before it was dark.
The Master of charity Jesus had other plans of charity so he said to his disciples
‘You give them something to eat.’
So charity means the presence of the Lord.Jesus didn’t want to draw bread and fish from the air like a magician because he wanted the disciples and the crowd to contribute to the work of charity, to be a part of the work of salvation. So naturally the disciples had to take the pain of feeding about five thousand men.The contribution of the disciples, the contribution of the crowd i.e.the five loaves and two fish put together with the blessings of Jesus worked a startling miracle.
So our daily prayers to the Lord is really very important for the benefit of other members, relatives, friends, sick and ailing people. God doesn’t want a big thing from us for works of wonders and miracles,he wants a little of our 24 hours. He looks at our hearts and our intentions. We need to pray to him daily because we can’t afford to spend the time required to get a special grace in the event of our busy schedule. That means we do that in small way to complete it in months or a year to receive a special grace.
Jesus is kind and generous to all, he doesn’t like his children to give up all worldly activities and pray to him always to please him but there is someone who doesn’t want people who are close to him to receive grace of Jesus. The Satan doesn’t want Jesus trying to bring those who have gone astray.
Those who obey the devil and follow his activities are his belongings. So to receive grace of Jesus such people must pray to the Lord daily and authorise the Lord to bless him in a special way.The Satan is not authorised to snatch a follower of Christ from him without any activities.Similarly Jesus doesn’t interefere in the lives of those who are not interested in him but are interested in Satan.
He wants each one of us to contribute for our spiritual upliftments.
‘You give them something to eat.’ and the disciples surrendered to Jesus by saying ‘that they had only five loaves and two fish’
He was satisfied with that and the rest of the task was completed by him.
Jesus wants all of us to take a few steps forward for our Salvation and then the Satan will no more have authority over the sinners and Jesus will become the saviour of such souls.
Our little efforts and prayers authorise Jesus to work among us in the unity of the Holy Spirit.
